Will feed, provide water & other routine care for impounded dogs. Will answer telephone calls & greet visitors, answering routine inquiries concerning pound & dog warden operations & procedures.. Will retrieve stray dogs & be responsible for the duties of the Warden & the Assistant Warden in their absence. Will issue dog licenses & citations, calculate & collect fees; prepare documentation necessary to facilitate the deposit of collected fees. Will euthanize unclaimed and/or unwanted dogs in accordance with established procedures & ensure that proper disposal procedures are followed. Other duties as assigned. Please Note: This is a part-time position (24 to 28 hours per week). Starting wage range is $9.50 to $11.00, based on experience, skills & abilities. Must have the ability to work during non-traditional work hours & weekends. Must be available to be on-call during the evenings & weekends. Uniforms will be provided & worn when working in the Warden position. Will meet all job safety requirements & all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to the essential functions. Working Conditions: Will work in the vicinity of wet floors or wall openings, elevated platforms, and/or runways; is exposed to environmental conditions which may result in injury from fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases and/or poorly ventilated work areas; exposed to possible injury from hazardous gases, chemicals, flammables, air contaminants, hazardous waste, unclean or unsanitary conditions, electrical shock; works with moving mechanical parts of equipment of machines & equipment; aggressive dogs, frequently lifts & carries objects 50 pounds or less; frequently carries objects 50 pounds or less; able to lift dogs up to 100 pounds. Minimum Qualifications: Must have a HS diploma/equivalent w/ animal-handling experience or knowledge required. Must possess a valid driver s license & an acceptable driving record: must be able to qualify for & remain insurable under the County s insurance plan, maintaining continued eligibility for required licensure. . Must be able to operate the Department pick-up truck, two-way radio & be willing to answer stray dog calls. Must be able to do heavy lifting up to 100 lbs. consistently. Must demonstrate regular & predictable attendance. Must have the ability to work cooperatively with coworkers & supervisors & positively interact with public.
