Desired Skills/Duties: Salary: Per salary schedule at Lakota. Starting salary $12.14 per hour based on verified experience. Contract Days: 8 hours per day, 5 days per week and185 days based on a school year calendar. Essential Job Responsibilities: Assisting in the management of the Library/Media Center within a school site by: Provide a safe and hygienic environment BY: > Meeting students at the job site > Escorting students with visual impairments > Managing disruptive student behaviors > Cleaning up spills > All other duties as assigned Assist in Direct Instruction BY: > Promotes the development of reading skills and reading appreciation. > Supports classroom teachers in their instructional units. > Providing one-on-one student instruction by clarifying directions, giving verbal instruction and re-teaching material as needed. > Supporting/reinforcing/assisting student with work, i.e. using additional materials > Assembling supplies for projects > Teaching and encouraging use of manners and social etiquette > Addressing student behavioral issues as they arise > All other duties as assigned Assist students and/or teachers BY: > Reinforcing the teachings that students have been given > Supervising students while in the media center > Shredding papers > Using copier for reproducing tests, assignments, and materials > Cutting, coloring, hole punching, laminating and/or assembling materials > All other duties as assigned Assist with record keeping and/or communication BY: > Completing district required reports: time sheets, mileage forms, absence reports, leave requests, accident reports, student incident reports, suspected child abuse reports > Completing packets for assigned work site > Participating with in-service activities as requested > Maintaining confidentiality > Checking email, voice mail, school mailbox daily > Meeting with teachers to learn about behavior needs of a student > Cataloguing and indexing items in the media center > Shelves and re-shelves books or items checked out by students > All other duties as assigned Professionalism: > Participates in professional growth activities. > Follows written administrative policies and procedures of the department, school and district. > Demonstrates professional responsibility. > Demonstrates positive interpersonal and appropriate relations with students. > Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations with parents/visitors/patrons. > Demonstrate positive and appropriate relations with co-workers/educational staff. > Accepts and adapts to change and constructive criticism in a professional manner. > Maintains acceptable attendance requirements. Qualifications unique to this position: > Must have valid driver s license > Could require physical work, i.e. lifting (up to 20lbs), bending, twisting, frequent ups and downs > Ohio Department of Education certification as Instructional Aide or a passing score on the ParaPro exam > 2 Years of college preferred > High school diploma or equivalent required EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER
