Desired Skills/Duties: The Director of Development will develop and manage the development program for the VMCCC Foundation. Working with the VMCCC CEO on a regular basis and reporting to both the CEO and to the VMCCC Foundation President, the Director of Development will secure corporate funding as well as private funding for programming as well as generate significant new revenues for the VMCCC Foundation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages the ongoing growth and expansion of a comprehensive fundraising program including major gifts, planned giving, annual programs, grant writing, corporate relations, building endowment, and special events. Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards donors and donor prospects. Oversees and informs VMCCC of plans for guest relations and shared events to assure proper preparedness of VMCCC staff when donors and partners are attending. Maintains overall corporate program, which includes discovery, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship processes: prospects for new corporate donors, creates corporate proposals and mailings, and coordinates delivery of all corporate benefits. Coordinates annual corporate/donor appreciation events/programming. Represents the VMCCC Foundation at business and community meetings in Lima and the surrounding communities. Develops strategic planning activities to create and implement fund raising goals and objectives; assists in the budget process for the department. Works with and utilizes the VMCCC Foundation President, VMCCC CEO, and members of the VMCCC Foundation Board and the VMCCC Board of trustees to nurture relationships that lead to giving commitments. Communicates regularly with the VMCCC Foundation s community of supporters. Oversees the maintenance of accurate and complete donor records. Oversees appropriate gift follow-up including acknowledgement, receipts, and fulfillment of donor requests. Oversees the implementation of special fundraising and donor recognition events. Manages a systematic approach to pursuing foundation grants, including writing proposals and reports. Produces financial, budget, and other special reports, proposals, and analyses for management, to include monthly progress reports and/or revenue reports to be used during monthly board meetings. Develops annual budget, work plan, and strategic fundraising plan. Participates in VMCCC projects, work calls, meetings, and events as required/requested by VMCCC Foundation President and/or VMCCC CEO. QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge in development functions for nonprofit, arts, educational, or similar institution. Demonstrated record of solicitation and management of individual benefactors. Demonstrated knowledge of the grant-writing environment. Advanced communication skills, effective presentation abilities, relationship building, and computer skills are essential. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, build consensus, problem solve, and provide leadership. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Fund Development, Business Administration, Marketing, Communication, or a related field preferred, or a combination of related education and experience. SALARY: Salary, compensation, and incentives will all be based on both experience, skills, and moving forward on productivity. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Director must be able to perform all the essential duties and responsibilities.
