Desired Skills/Duties: Salary $84,677.00 - $108,514.00 Annually $40.71-$52.17 Hourly General Description This is responsible and difficult administrative and technical work in the planning, organization, direction and supervision and coordination of the operations and activities of the City's electric transmission and distribution systems. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Utility Operations but extensive leeway is granted for the exercise of independent judgment. Supervision is exercised over all personnel in Electric Power Systems, Electric Distribution and the Electric Control Center. Essential Job Functions Plans, organizes, directs, supervises and coordinates the operations and activities of Electric Power Systems, Electric Distribution and Electric Control Center; Coordinates with the Manager of Energy Operations, Manager of Hydroelectric Operations and Manager of Power Plant Operations to ensure the availability and reliability of electric service for City electric customers; Analyzes Electric System design and operation, and determines necessary capital and operational improvements to maximize efficiency and reliability; Plans and directs the creation and implementation of design, operation and maintenance standards for the safe and reliable operation of the City's Electric System; Reviews the annual budget of subordinate Divisions and monitors expenditures; Coordinates activities between subordinate divisions as necessary; Provides technical and engineering advice and analysis to the Assistant Director of Utility Operations, other City Departments and Divisions and others as required or requested; Directs, supervises, advises, motivates, counsels, trains, prioritizes and evaluates the work and performance of subordinate personnel; Oversees the capital improvements program for electric transmission and distribution; Attends meetings, conferences and workshops as requested and authorized; Performs related work as required. Skills/Knowledges/Abilities Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of electric utility operation, maintenance and administration, particularly in the areas of electric transmission, distribution and generation; Thorough knowledge of effective management principles; Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of electric engineering; Thorough knowledge of computer hardware and software, including network applications and standards; Ability to organize and direct the work of professional, technical and clerical staff; Ability to develop and implement long range plans; Ability to manage and control large construction projects and expenditures; Ability to make decisions. in accordance with established policies and procedures; Ingenuity and inventiveness in the performance of tasks; Ability to prepare complex and technical reports; Ability to perform work with speed, accuracy and attention to detail; Ability to perform financial analysis of contracts; Ability to organize, prioritize, motivate, supervise and evaluate the work of others; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other City employees, Department Heads, Division Heads, other supervisory personnel, contractors, consultants and the general public; Ability to communicate well with others, both orally and in writing; Ability to handle confidential employee and administrative information with tact and discretion. Training/Education/Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from a college or university of recognized standing with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field; and Three (3) years experience in electric utility management, including supervisory experience.
