Desired Skills/Duties: Job ID 5601 - 10 month - Temporary - (Salaried) Responsibilities are to assist the fitness team in the daily operation of all fitness facilities and program areas, which include group fitness, personal training, weight room, and any satellite areas; with an emphasis on drop-in recreation and staff. This person will help to ensure the health and well-being of Fitness patrons and be knowledgeable in all emergency procedures.. Duties/Physical Demands: Perform duties with limited supervision and is responsible for making significant independent decisions Provide supervision of the Recreational Sports Center, Chestnut Field House and North Quad Fitness Center; including; program area assessment, facility inspection, equipment inventories, equipment safety checks and take appropriate action to ensure the health and well-being of patrons Assist with the recruiting, hiring, training, supervising and evaluating of the drop-in Fitness staff FCCs (40-50) for all Fitness facilities; Recreational Sports Center, Chestnut Field House, and North Quad Fitness Center Organize and create multiple Fitness Staff schedules for the Recreational Sports Center and satellite facility North Quad Fitness Center Direct and/or compile daily/weekly reports/updates of employee files including; merit points, area usage reports, staff phone list, etc Complete a combination 3-10 weekly group fitness classes and personal training sessions per week Familiar with current fitness trends formats to develop continuing education and new class protocols for drop-in fitness staff Instruct drop-in recreation patrons on proper exercise technique and equipment use on over 300 pieces of equipment in multiple facilities Develop, attend and assist in leading all mandatory staff meetings and training sessions, coordination the development of Fitness staff Lead and develop Student Manager staff (5-7) including daily scheduling, weekly meetings and planning monthly in-services for student staff Responsible for assisting with oversight and providing coverage in the daily/weekend fitness schedules Provide support for Miami Recreation Living Learning Community including administrative tasks and teaching Administer appropriate fitness testing; including body composition, mobility assessments and biometric evaluations Remain current in CPR, FA & BBP and is knowledgeable in all emergency procedures of the RSC Assist the fitness director with administrative work including, but not limited to: program development; management and evaluation; inventory; equipment and policy/procedure research Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor s degree Current CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment Experience working in an exercise and fitness environment The University is committed to equal opportunity, affirmative action, and eliminating discrimination and harassment.
