Desired Skills/Duties: General Description The primary purpose of this position is to be responsible for the actual hands-on delivery of meals to individuals in the community serviced by Wesley Community Services. These meals will be delivered to the client s home or to other sites. Job Functions Duties Pack and deliver meals clients as assigned. Provide services in a safe and compliant manner. Establish supportive, caring relationships with each client served. Through the supportive relationship and careful observation become aware of additional needs of clients and/or others clients and report the observations. Complete a daily log of activities. Attend approved educational and training events, including facility in-service trainings. Perform other duties assigned by the HDM Manager and or the Director of Logistics. Client s Rights Maintain the confidentiality of all client care information. Working Conditions Requirements Work in the physical plant as well as in the community. Sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittingly during working hours. Ability to ascend and descend stairs. May be subject to hostile and emotionally upset clients, family members, etc. Communicate with medical staff, nursing staff and other department supervisors. Be involved with clients, residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances. Attend and participate in scheduled continuing education training programs. Be willing to work the hours necessary to perform the service. May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, body waste, conditions, etc., including the AIDS virus and Hepatitis B viruses. Perform other duties as assigned up to and including participation and attendance at agency events. Specific Requirements Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with clients, family members, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public. Physically push and pull carts loaded with meals, milk, bread and other products weighing up to 100 pounds. Ability to work flexible work schedule. Must be a minimum of twenty-one (21) years of age. Possess a valid driver s license and a satisfactory driving record with less than 4 points. Must notify Wesley Community Services of any change in your driving record. Must be able to furnish your own reliable transportation. Physical and Sensory Requirements Have the ability to judge distances, read signs from a distance and have the ability to work in dim or an unlit environment. Have the ability to maneuver equipment safely through hallways and in to storage units. Have the ability to be aware of surrounding environment. Have the ability to hear and follow instructions. Have the ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language. Must be in general good health and demonstrate emotional stability. Have the ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position. Have the ability to lift in excess of fifty (50) pounds. Tasks assigned to this position may involve exposure to blood or body fluids. Risk Exposure Categories may be found in the Exposure Control Manual (Universal Precautions).
