Production Control Manager

Desired Skills/Duties: SUMMARY OF THE JOB: Participates in the development and refinement of production schedules. Responsible for directly tracking and analyzing new and ongoing orders, implementing production changes as required while balancing inventory quantities. PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES: Generate production build schedules and delivery targets for various product lines. Determine usage rates for consumables and implement a plan-for-every-part (PFEP), including replenishment mechanisms (i.e. kanban, JIT, etc ). Initiate lean inventory management and replenishment systems. Initiate cycle counting methodology for proper inventory control. Generate recommendations for the disposition of slow-moving and obsolete inventories. Initiate requisitions for purchased goods, both consumable and inventoriable items. Follow up with suppliers on purchased goods to ensure OTD. Create and communicate both daily and weekly production schedules and develop OTD metrics. Expedite critical components through purchasing department or directly with vendor, as needed. Develop BOMs, production routings and work orders for all new orders. Oversees work order issuance and closure process in accordance with policies. Review and reconcile discrepancies related to production work orders. Coordinate the shipment of completed product with both Logistics and Service managers. Participates in daily production meeting. Ensure compliance to company policies as well as federal and state laws. Communicate effectively with all departments. Maintains all 5S and safety standards. Perform all other duties as assigned. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: BS or BA degree in a technical discipline and/or equivalent with 5+ years of experience in production planning in a manufacturing environment. Experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience with lean manufacturing and inventory control systems preferred. BASIC SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS: Solid interpersonal skills with experience in customer and supplier relations. Experience with ISO9001 or QS9001 Quality Operating Systems. Able to handle multiple assignments under aggressive time constraints. Ability to communicate effectively.
