Desired Skills/Duties: Job Summary: Perform various services related activities to provide daily upkeep and maintenance of assigned work area(s). Prepare and serves Meals on Wheels and special function meals. . Job Duties and Functions: Utilize department resources appropriately, to include menus, food items, equipment, paper products, cold pack and meal supplies. Work closely with the client, families, dietitians and other staff to ensure client meal satisfaction and accuracy of client meal satisfaction and accuracy of client meal request. Maintain cleanliness of assigned work area(s) and equipment according to established procedures, including washing and sanitizing work surfaces and floor maintenance. Prepare and serve client and special function meals to include set-ups. Follow departmental operating procedures relating to recipes, menus, quality and safe handling guidelines. Document cleaning activities according to established procedures and report equipment malfunction and /or safety hazards immediately to Food Service Manager. Maintain documentation such as meals produced, meals given out, temperature logs, etc. Maintain a clean and orderly work area(s) and equipment. Comply with all food service policies and procedures, as well as, all federal regulations regarding food service. Responsible for disposition of produced food through proper storage, refrigeration/freezing and or disposal. Assist in platting and ware-washing operations, removal of trash, meal count and route accuracy. Assist associates in the performance of duties as needed. Perform assigned duties in manner that ensures excellent customer service. Attend and participate in department meetings and continuing education classes. Physical and Sensory Requirements Have the ability to judge distances, read signs from a distance and have the ability to work in dim or an unlit environment. Have the ability to maneuver equipment safely through kitchen and hall areas and storage units. Have the ability to be aware of surrounding environment. Have the ability to hear and follow instructions. Have the ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language. Must be in general good health and demonstrate emotional stability. Have the ability to move intermittingly throughout the work shift. Have the ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position. Have the ability to lift, push and pull in excess of fifty 50 pounds. Able to work in cold temperature environments. Education Requirement (Specialized/Technical) Reading comprehension, writing, hearing and math skills required such as those usually acquired with a high school or equivalent diploma. Ability to read, comprehend and execute recipes. Possess knowledge of food service and nutrition terminology. Certification, Licensure, Registered Experience; Credentials as required by the Health Department. Skills and Abilities Ability to interpret, write and follow directions in English. Possess a good understanding of weights and measures. Knowledge and ability to use all kitchen tools and equipment in a safe manner. Be familiar with and the knowledge to effectively use standard food service equipment (example; ovens, steamers, food slicers, etc.). Ability to identify all products used in kitchen operations and to recognize spoiled or questionable products. Constant standing, walking, reaching and bending are required throughout the work shift to perform functions. Ability to lift and or push up to fifty pounds. Flexibility in scheduled work hours to complete assigned tasks as needed. Perform other duties as assigned up to and including participation and attendance at agency events.
