Desired Skills/Duties: POSITION: Food and Nutrition Field Specialist V Fairfield City GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This employee supports the Food Service operation by ensuring food of high nutritious quality is provided to all students attending Fairfield City Schools, ensuring all school sites are in compliance with USDA and NSLP regulations, and ensuring staffing levels at all school sites are met. This employee will support the Director of Student Services in meal planning, kitchen facilities, purchasing, compliance and staff training. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of Associate s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or Food Sciences, or two (2) years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a school setting preferred. h Level 2 Serv Safe certified. Willingness/ability to work as a team member. Must have the communication skills necessary to work successfully with kitchen and building staff, administrators, students and parents. Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so that staff, administrators and students will understand. h Working knowledge and understanding of USDA and NSLP requirements. History of good job attendance. Must have strong math skills. Commitment to the highest personal and professional standard. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Physical ability to perform all essential functions of the position. Bending, lifting, twisting and repetitive motion required. h Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Valid Driver s license. Must pass criminal background check, and be free from communicable disease. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: h Supports the development of lunch/breakfast menus that meet USDA/NSLP requirements for all meals and snacks across the district. Communicates to the administration, staff and public, as appropriate, federal and state standards and guidelines regarding school food service programs. Support food service program in meal preparation, planning, staff organization, purchasing, and inventory. Monitors student participation and explore ways to increase participation. Confers with supervisor regarding progress, concerns and recommendations. Manages the food and nutrition website. Maintains records and files as required. Meets deadlines (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly). Observes operations at school sites to provide for ongoing training programs that will improve or develop competency in NSLP. Utilizes community resources in carrying out total nutrition program. Adheres to federal, state, and local guidelines, Board policies and procedures (e.g. OSHA, OCR, ODE). h Performs other duties as assigned WORKING CONDITIONS: Ability to travel to multiple work locations in the course of a work day and in inclement weather. Potential occasional exposure to blood and/or other bodily fluids, chemicals and fumes. Possible interaction with unruly students and/or adults. h Work is performed in a school/office environment.
